About the Role

The TEAK Fellowship is looking for a motivated TEAK alum to join a three-person team and help deliver recruitment and enrollment targets under the direction of the Director of Admissions. This role is central to the organization’s plan to expand the program to 450 students over the next four years. A major part of the job is supporting families through a detailed and often complicated application journey, so strong communication, a service mindset, and exceptional organization are essential.

About TEAK Fellowship

The TEAK Fellowship is a ten-year enrichment program serving New York City students from under-resourced communities. It combines rigorous after-school and summer academic instruction, meaningful cultural experiences, support for secondary school and college placement, an internship program, and an extensive support network. TEAK students gain admission and financial aid at some of the nation’s most selective academic institutions and graduate prepared to contribute to communities that need leadership and service.

Recruitment

  • Build awareness of TEAK by reaching out to school partners, community centers, libraries, churches, and similar organizations to identify and attract strong applicants.
  • Help plan and run recruitment events, including information sessions and testing dates, and manage registrations through the website and inquiry phone line while confirming family attendance.
  • Co-facilitate information sessions across New York City.
  • Stay in touch with families and school counselors throughout the admissions journey, from the first inquiry through final decisions.

Admissions Coordination

  • Take ownership of the admissions email inbox by tracking messages, answering questions, processing documents, and routing requests appropriately.
  • Handle admissions inquiries received through the website and phone line and respond to families quickly.
  • Set up and maintain applicant digital files and carefully track each candidate through the admissions workflow, including uploads, status changes, decisions, and related details.
  • Keep the admissions database current with information for school partners, CBOs, inquiries, and applicants.
  • Administer admissions testing for prospective students 3 to 5 weekends each year.
  • Support general administrative work connected to recruitment and admissions.

Applicant Selection

  • Participate as part of the Admissions Committee by reviewing files, joining selection meetings, and interviewing applicants and families.
  • Use systems, platforms, evaluation rubrics, and testing data to support consistent and informed decision-making.
  • Coordinate and carry out the Alumni Finalist Interview process, including recruitment, training, and correspondence.

Communications Support

  • Create and run social media campaigns that advance admissions, recruitment, development, and broader communications goals.
  • Partner with the Development & Communications team to plan, schedule, and publish content across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, TikTok, and newer platforms.
  • Work with admissions and communications colleagues to develop engaging stories and posts about students, alumni, programs, events, and organizational impact.
  • Track social media results, watch for new trends and platforms, and contribute to the year-round content calendar.
  • Help keep the admissions webpage updated with accurate deadlines and information session details.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • TEAK Fellowship alumni are preferred.
  • Applicants should be strongly committed to TEAK’s mission of expanding educational access.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills are needed to work effectively with parents or guardians, students, school partners, and community-based organizations.
  • The role requires a flexible schedule, including some Saturday and evening work from September through June.
  • Strong prioritization skills and close attention to detail are important.
  • Willingness and ability to travel across all five boroughs is required.
  • Excellent administrative, written, and interpersonal skills are expected; experience with Google Suite is a plus.
  • The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver and team player.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or another language is strongly preferred.

The starting salary for this position is $55,000. TEAK also provides generous health coverage and paid time off, along with two remote workdays each week.
