Role overview
We are looking for a meticulous and initiative-taking Accountant to join the finance team in Dubai and work closely with the CFO. This position focuses on keeping financial records accurate, producing management reports, supporting budgeting and audit work, and making sure accounting activities align with UAE requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the general ledger and keep account balances and financial records properly matched and updated.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements along with management reporting packs.
- Support the CFO in preparing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow plans.
- Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable entries accurately and within deadlines.
- Review bank reconciliations and maintain complete supporting documents for all financial entries.
- Follow UAE VAT rules, prepare VAT returns, and ensure filing accuracy.
- Work with external auditors and assist through both internal and external audit cycles.
- Help with payroll processing and expense tracking.
- Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation schedules.
- Study financial information and suggest improvements to profitability and cost control.
- Ensure finance activities follow company policies and internal procedures.
- Support ERP/accounting system enhancements and contribute to process streamlining.
Qualifications and requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline is required.
- At least 3 to 5 years of accounting experience is expected, ideally gained in the UAE.
- Strong working knowledge of UAE VAT and related financial rules is necessary.
- Hands-on experience with accounting and ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Tally, Zoho Books, or QuickBooks is needed.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
- Strong analytical thinking, planning, and communication abilities are important.
- The candidate should be able to work independently and handle several priorities at once.
- Professional credentials like CPA, ACCA, or CMA will be considered an added advantage.
