Overview

We are hiring dependable general labourers to support the weaving production team in Kentville, Nova Scotia. This role focuses on operating looms, maintaining quality standards, and following all health, safety, quality, and environmental requirements on the floor.

QHSE Responsibilities

• Follow all quality, health, safety, and environmental rules, along with applicable regulatory obligations.
• Carry out all duties in a safe, compliant manner.
• Promptly report injuries, near misses, unsafe conditions, and improper practices.
• Help improve and maintain safe, healthy working conditions by taking part in problem-solving and risk-analysis efforts.
• Attend mandatory HSE training whenever required.
• Guide new team members on correct HSE practices.
• Understand the HSE plan and its objectives.
• Alert coworkers who are taking unnecessary risks.
• Check safety devices before starting operations.
• Take an active role in HSE processes.
• Speak up if any task seems unsafe and do not participate in work that could put anyone’s health or safety at risk.
• Always use the required personal protective equipment.

Role Requirements

• Bring a solid working knowledge of loom operating standards and the ability to run several looms at the same time.
• Be able to identify situations that could lead to fabric defects, as well as defects that have already occurred.
• Document all defects for the Shift Supervisor and record the status and cause in detail on the Manufacturing Record.
• Work to measured targets for both efficiency and quality.
• Ensure loom guards remain in place and all safety rules are observed.
• Keep the work area neat and orderly at all times.
• Maintain accurate records connected to the position or any other records requested by the Shift Supervisor.
• Support the Loom Prepper when directed by the Shift Supervisor.
• Stay familiar with all weaving-specific work instructions in VKS and any other relevant instructions, and keep up with new or changed processes.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay is competitive. Shift premiums are available for 12-hour shifts and night shifts.

Schedule

This is a full-time role with a night shift schedule from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
