About the role
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer / Consultant to join a expanding Data Practice. This is a practical consulting position centered on creating modern data solutions using Databricks, Azure, and Fabric across different client settings. You will partner with clients, solution architects, and delivery teams to design, develop, and fine-tune scalable data platforms that support measurable business results.
To do well in this role, you need solid technical depth as well as the confidence to work directly with stakeholders, interpret business needs, and turn them into workable engineering solutions. As a senior team member, you will also contribute to solution architecture, guide junior engineers, and play a part in the ongoing development of the Data Practice.
Key responsibilities
- Create, develop, and improve data pipelines for both lakehouse and warehouse environments.
- Build reliable data transformations for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML use cases.
- Work with Databricks, Delta Live Tables, Lakeflow, Git, and CI/CD workflows.
- Put in place testing, monitoring, and data quality controls.
- Run technical conversations and convert business needs into technical delivery outcomes.
- Collaborate with architects and delivery teams on solution design and planning.
- Support and mentor junior and intermediate engineers while sharing knowledge within the team.
- Help improve internal frameworks, templates, and delivery standards.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of experience in data engineering.
- At least 4 years of practical experience with Databricks, including DABs, Delta Live Tables, notebooks, and workflows.
- Strong working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Background in delivering lakehouse, warehouse, or cloud-native data platforms.
- Exposure to Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data Platform tools.
- Understanding of data modelling, Medallion Architecture, and scalable solution design.
- Hands-on experience with Git, CI/CD, and DevOps methods.
- Experience building testing and data quality frameworks.
- Good stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- Experience mentoring others or providing technical leadership.
- Relevant Databricks certifications or a commitment to continued professional growth.
