About the role

The City of New Westminster is looking for a practical, service-oriented Recreation Facility Worker to help keep recreation centres and parks operating smoothly. This position supports day-to-day facility operations by making spaces clean, safe, secure, and ready for public programs, rentals, and special events. The role also includes giving tours of facilities and responding to questions from prospective clients interested in booking spaces.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare multipurpose rooms for daily activities by arranging, removing, and resetting furniture and equipment.
  • Assist program participants, user groups, and members of the public by answering questions and offering helpful guidance.
  • Act as a main contact for people interested in renting Centennial Lodge for events such as celebrations of life, weddings, and other gatherings.
  • Unlock, secure, and monitor facilities while helping maintain building safety and enforcing site rules.
  • Keep recreation spaces clean, including washrooms, floors, windows, common areas, and similar areas.
  • Carry out light maintenance, minor repairs, and painting work as needed.
  • Use computer systems to track information, communicate with staff, and receive work instructions.
