Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site position in Nairobi County, Kenya. The Prompt Engineer will create, evaluate, and refine prompts and AI workflows for language models used by internal teams. The role supports functions such as operations, customer support, risk analysis, and marketing content. The specialist will translate business needs into prompt structures, run experiments, improve response quality, and make sure outputs remain accurate, clear, and aligned with internal compliance standards.

Key Work Areas

• Convert business requirements into usable prompt templates and workflows.
• Test prompt variations and improve them for consistency, accuracy, and relevance.
• Support internal teams by building AI-assisted processes for day-to-day tasks.
• Collaborate with product, data, and operations teams to identify high-value use cases.
• Document guidance, best practices, and usage notes for stakeholders.
• Review outputs, collect user feedback, and recommend enhancements to improve performance.
• Ensure AI usage is safe, dependable, and aligned with company policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Practical experience in designing, testing, and improving prompts for large language models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, including A/B testing and experiment analysis.
• Excellent English writing skills for instructions, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
• Basic familiarity with scripting or programming such as Python or SQL, plus comfort working with APIs or AI tools.
• Understanding of data privacy, ethical AI practices, and quality assurance in regulated or financial settings.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Linguistics, or a closely related area, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, or customer-focused operations in Kenya is beneficial.
• Ability to work across teams, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing tools and business needs.
