Company Overview

Etsy is a worldwide marketplace focused on distinctive and handmade creative products. The company develops and maintains the systems and technology that connect entrepreneurs with buyers across the globe. Working at Etsy or Depop means contributing to meaningful, large-scale work with a team that values impact and the idea of keeping commerce human.

Role Summary

Etsy is hiring a Payments Operations Manager to assist the COO and CEO of EPIL with the everyday running of EPIL’s payment services. The role is highly operational, fast-moving and complex, requiring the ability to manage many parallel workstreams while balancing governance, vendor management, regulatory requirements and delivery deadlines across multiple stakeholders. Strong project leadership is the key capability needed, along with a practical, detail-oriented approach.

This position sits in the Payments team and is centered on execution, monitoring and oversight of payout activities for EPIL, including seller disbursements, issue handling, and first-line supervision of key payment service providers and banking partners. The goal is to keep payout operations accurate, timely, controlled and visible through the appropriate oversight forums.

The broader Payments function works to keep Etsy’s payment platform reliable, smooth and scalable. Through EPIL and global partners, Etsy supports transactions across multiple currencies and payment methods while meeting local regulatory expectations.

This is a full-time role reporting to the Director of Payments Operations. The compensation package includes salary, equity, an annual performance bonus and employee benefits. The role requires working from Etsy’s Dublin office once or twice each week, depending on how close you live to the office. Candidates within commuting distance of the Dublin office may be prioritized.

Compensation

The stated annual salary range for this role is €75,000 to €97,000. In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for equity, a yearly performance bonus and competitive benefits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the transfer of funds to EPIL sellers through payout service providers, making sure payments are completed accurately and within the agreed daily, weekly and monthly timelines.
  • Track important operational metrics, spot patterns or deterioration in performance, and help drive corrective action when service levels are off target.
  • Serve as the operational contact for payout issues and incidents such as delayed or failed disbursements or partner outages, coordinating across internal and external teams until resolution and follow-up are complete.
  • Record, assess and escalate incidents according to EPIL’s incident handling requirements and outsourcing expectations, while keeping associated trackers up to date, including complaints logs.
  • Contribute to outsourcing governance by compiling and reviewing monthly metrics, KPIs and KRIs for oversight meetings and reporting packs.
  • Support business continuity efforts by taking part in Business Impact Analysis and Scenario Analysis activities.
  • Help coordinate quarterly Board and CORE reporting by preparing materials, drafting minutes where needed, and summarizing operational issues and upcoming changes that affect payout activity.
  • Keep SOPs and related operating documents current and aligned with key EPIL policies covering outsourcing, incidents, operational resilience, AML/CFT and information security, ensuring records remain audit-ready.
  • Take part in vendor oversight work such as operational reviews, business check-ins and follow-up on due diligence or information requests, in partnership with Partner Operations, Finance, Risk and Compliance.
  • Collect information and prepare regulatory submissions for the Central Bank of Ireland.
  • Work with Payments Engineering, Product and Analytics to diagnose recurring issues, improve payout flows and support operational work within change initiatives such as new payout rails or settlement configuration updates.
  • Handle additional duties as needed, with responsibilities subject to change at Etsy’s discretion and in line with local law.

Experience and Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in eCommerce, FinTech or banking payments, with a strong emphasis on operations, payment processing, partner or vendor management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Practical understanding of payout and disbursement processes, including settlement files, rejections and returns, reconciliation touchpoints, and the ability to assess how operational or regulatory changes affect those flows.
  • Background working with or overseeing regulated entities, payment service providers, merchant acquirers or banking partners in a high-volume setting, with experience tracking KPIs and supporting remediation when performance slips.
  • Comfort working in a policy-led or regulated environment, with familiarity with concepts such as outsourcing, incident management, operational resilience and AML/CFT expectations.
  • Very strong project management ability, including the capacity to juggle multiple complicated workstreams across Operations, Engineering, Product, Finance, Risk and Compliance while under pressure.
  • Strong analytical ability and experience using dashboards or data to monitor performance, surface issues and recommend improvements.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to explain complex operational matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • High attention to detail, solid organizational habits and strong motivation.
  • International experience or experience working across borders in a matrix organization is an advantage.
  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Alignment with Etsy’s mission, vision and values.
