Role overview
The Patient Care Technician supports nursing staff by delivering both direct and indirect patient care in the assigned unit. This role carries out duties assigned by the Charge Nurse or team leader and serves as a link between the physician and the patient and family.
Core duties
- Keep the clinic or work area prepared each day, including cleanliness and supply readiness.
- Help the physician during patient examination and set up the equipment needed before procedures.
- Coordinate clinic operations, including patient movement and flow.
- Complete all required paperwork accurately, such as claims and referral documentation.
- Monitor patient progress and support related needs, including coordination with lab and radiology services.
- Handle admissions and referrals correctly and within required timelines.
- Answer calls and respond courteously to questions, clarifications, and visitor enquiries while relaying messages accurately.
- Follow JCIA and CBAHI patient safety requirements.
- Comply with nursing documentation standards and policy.
- Protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Start emergency and resuscitation actions when required.
- Educate patients and families as needed.
- Follow punctuality and attendance expectations.
- Maintain the competency level required under HMG policy.
- Keep the required license valid in line with MOH regulations.
- Observe infection prevention and control rules.
- Follow the dress code policy.
- Carry out nursing procedures within scope of practice, including vital signs and pulse oximetry, height and weight measurements, glucose checks, and ECG or pain assessment support.
- Respond to questions within the PCT scope and escalate to the RN or SN when appropriate.
- Attend mandatory meetings and educational sessions.
- Immediately report any observations or concerns about a person's condition to the supervisor or charge nurse.
- Direct patients to the correct departments for investigations and provide written information when needed.
- Support person-centered care initiatives introduced by HMG.
- Contribute to patient experience by showing compassion, respect, and dignity.
- Perform other related duties that fit within your knowledge, skills, and ability.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- Completion of the PCT program.
- Some experience in healthcare is preferred, but recent graduates with an interest in healthcare may also be considered.
- Valid Saudi Council registration.
- BLS certification.
