Night Shift Custodian

Job Summary

This position supports the cleanliness, safety, and orderliness of a warehouse environment. The custodian will handle day-to-day cleaning duties, waste handling, and adherence to health and safety standards. Success in this role depends on attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to complete hands-on tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Keep warehouse floors clean by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, break areas, and office spaces.
• Dust and wipe down surfaces and equipment to help keep the facility tidy.
• Gather trash and recyclables and dispose of them in line with local procedures.
• Manage trash cans and recycling containers, including timely emptying and replacement.
• Work in accordance with health and safety rules to support a safe workplace.
• Escalate safety concerns, broken equipment, and maintenance needs to the appropriate leader.
• Track and restock cleaning materials when inventory runs low.
• Store cleaning tools and supplies properly in assigned locations.
• Help prepare and clean up areas for warehouse meetings or events.
• Carry out small repair or maintenance tasks when required.
• Consistently meet standards for productivity, accuracy, and quality.
• Help maintain an organized and hazard-free environment by following safety instructions and reporting risks.
• Collaborate with coworkers and supervisors to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly team goals.
• Follow all company and warehouse policies.
• Be willing to support other roles or departments and take on additional duties when needed.

Physical Requirements

This job requires extended standing and walking, potentially for up to 12 hours per day. It also involves regular use of speech, sight, hearing, and hand dexterity, along with frequent bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching. The role includes routinely lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling medium loads of up to 75 lbs.

Experience

At least 1 year of relevant experience in a distribution setting is preferred, though it is not mandatory.

Education

No degree is required for this role. The employer places greater value on relevant skills, experience, and alignment with company values.

Working Environment

While performing the job, the employee will regularly work around moving machinery and vehicles. There may also be occasional exposure to temperature and humidity changes, as well as dust, fumes, and gases. The work area is typically moderately noisy, with normal employee traffic through the space.
