Role overview

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and ongoing operation of AWS’s global infrastructure. The team supports data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems that keep cloud services available for customers. This position sits within a broad cross-functional environment and works closely with engineering, supply chain, security, and operations teams to maintain strong safety, security, and cost standards.

As a Network Cabling Quality Technician, you will help embed quality assurance into cable installation work across the full project lifecycle. The role focuses on making sure cabling work in new data center builds meets Amazon and local regulatory requirements, while also improving processes, training, vendor performance, and defect management.

What you will do

• Work alongside Network Deployment and Vendor Management teams to build quality assurance into cable installation workflows from planning through execution.
• Review training content and cabling design documents and provide QA input to confirm standards are clearly defined and followed.
• Encourage partner teams and cabling vendors to use QA checklists that verify compliance with Amazon standards and applicable jurisdictional requirements during key installation and testing checkpoints.
• Collect input from internal teams and vendors, then adjust quality processes to better match operational needs.
• Validate cable installation quality by reviewing milestone inspection records and cable testing results.
• Support adoption of cable validation testing, manage defects, and set performance benchmarks that help improve vendor outcomes and quality measures.
• Document cable installation standards and SOPs as new technologies and cabling methods are introduced.
• Deliver training to partner teams and provide implementation guidance to vendors so installation work is consistent across sites.
• Monitor metrics including inspection reports, test results, defect trends, First Pass Yield, schedule adherence, and vendor performance across multiple projects.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts by capturing lessons learned, running post-project reviews, and recommending process changes.
• Identify ways to reduce Cost of Poor Quality and improve delivery efficiency.
• Travel regionally and locally up to 25% for site visits, meetings, and onsite quality reviews.

Basic qualifications

• Hands-on experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and installation methods.
• Working knowledge of quality assurance approaches and tools.
• At least 2 years of experience installing inside-plant cabling in data center environments.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience supporting small to medium-scale program management with internal teams and contractors.
• Strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, attention to detail, root cause analysis experience, and a track record of maintaining high quality standards.
