Position overview
The Planner role focuses on building, managing, and communicating an assortment and product plan that supports or surpasses financial objectives. This position works closely with buying and allocation teams from a financial planning perspective.
What you will do
- Track weekly and monthly sales performance and revise in-season sales and inventory expectations as needed.
- Recommend actions that help the business stay on course to meet financial targets.
- Work with cross-functional partners on basic replenishment styles to improve sales and inventory results.
- Help prepare and present sales and inventory forecasts.
- Coordinate with peers to keep information consistent, exchange effective practices, and strengthen system knowledge.
- Create assortment plans by program using store tiering, sales expectations, fixture limits, visual merchandising standards, and seasonal changes.
- Plan inventory levels to support the highest possible sales performance.
- Monitor selling and stock levels to maintain the best possible store assortments.
- Review Open To Buy (OTB) performance and recommend changes to future buys, deliveries, pricing, or markdowns when needed.
- Build financial plans that help departments reach or exceed sales, gross margin, and inventory turn goals.
- Partner with Buyers on annual and seasonal financial plans at the department, class, and location level.
- Develop pre-season sales and inventory plans by department, class, style, and store.
- Identify opportunities and risks within each plan.
- Respond to individual store requirements and ensure new store assortments and inventory levels are appropriate.
Department overview
The Merchandise Planning team is a highly analytical, fashion-aware group that studies historical style and category performance, forecasts future demand, and manages inventory levels. The team works closely with Buying and Allocation to improve purchase quantities and store allocations. The role offers frequent collaboration across functions and direct visibility into how planning decisions affect business performance.

Compensation and benefits
The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 per year. Final compensation is influenced by factors such as market conditions, internal equity, relevant experience, and background. Corporate employees are also eligible for benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, paid time off, an on-site gym, employee discounts, and more.
Education
A bachelor's degree is required.
