Role Overview

As a Mechanical Site Engineer, you will lead the on-site execution of mechanical works, making sure installations, testing, and commissioning are carried out in line with approved drawings, technical specifications, applicable codes, and safety requirements.

Core Duties

• Direct and monitor the installation of mechanical services such as HVAC, plumbing, fire-fighting, piping, and related equipment.
• Confirm that work is executed according to approved drawings, method statements, and project specifications.
• Track day-to-day site progress to ensure activities remain aligned with the project schedule.
• Coordinate the work of subcontractors and ensure smooth site execution.
• Examine mechanical drawings, shop drawings, and material submissions.
• Check material quantities and verify that the right items are delivered to and used at site.
• Carry out site inspections and assess workmanship quality.
• Work with electrical and civil teams to prevent clashes and interface issues.
• Support testing, balancing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
• Enforce site safety rules and HSE procedures throughout the work.
• Apply quality assurance processes and inspection test plans.
• Record non-conformities, report them, and track corrective actions until closure.
• Ensure installations comply with standards such as ASHRAE, SMACNA, and NFPA.
• Participate in meetings with contractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Make sure materials, tools, and equipment are available to maintain progress.
• Coordinate with procurement teams to secure timely delivery of mechanical materials.
• Escalate technical issues and delays to the project manager.
• Prepare daily and weekly progress updates for the site team.
• Maintain logs and records related to inspections, testing, and mechanical activities.
• Contribute to as-built drawings and operation and maintenance documentation.
• Document commissioning outcomes accurately and completely.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery of mechanical works.
• Support BIM coordination by aligning site work with approved models to reduce conflicts, rework, and delays.
• Keep up with new industry trends, materials, and technologies to support innovative project delivery.
• Handle additional tasks assigned by management as needed.

Qualifications

• A diploma in Mechanical Technology or a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, is required.
• Applicants should have more than 6 years of hands-on experience in mechanical site execution, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, MEP, or similar fields.

Skills and Knowledge

• Strong understanding of mechanical systems and installation practices.
• Working knowledge of mechanical calculations such as duct sizing, pump head, and pipe sizing.
• Familiarity with commissioning processes and procedures.
• Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and Microsoft Office tools effectively.
• Good command of relevant international and local codes and standards, including IEC, NEC, BS, and applicable regulations.
• Clear communication and practical problem-solving ability.
• Comfortable working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
• Strong focus on accuracy, detail, and technical quality.
• Good understanding of project flow, schedules, and cross-functional coordination across project stages.
• Fluency in both Arabic and English.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
• Excellent organization and time-management abilities.

Working Conditions

This is a site-based position. There may also be occasional international travel requirements.
