Role overview
This position focuses on mechanical commissioning work in a semiconductor cleanroom setting in Dresden, Saxony. The role is centered on verifying, starting up, and validating mechanical equipment and building systems so they operate as intended and align with project requirements.
What you will do
- Carry out commissioning work on mechanical equipment and related systems.
- Support a range of plant and utility systems, including chilled water, hot water, process cooling water, exhaust, compressed air, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air handlers, rooftop units, air compressors, fans, and motors.
- Create system-specific commissioning and start-up procedures based on the design intent, construction drawings, submittals, specifications, operating sequences, and system/process integration needs.
- Examine contractor testing methods, test records, and field testing activities to confirm they satisfy code and regulatory verification requirements across project disciplines.
- Perform walk-downs of mechanical systems, verify installation against drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, and applicable legal requirements, and report gaps, errors, and corrective actions through field reports and punch lists.
- Execute functional acceptance testing and confirm the operation and integration of mechanical components as part of a complete controlled system.
- Review drawings and specifications to check that equipment has been installed correctly and meets owner project requirements.
Experience and knowledge needed
- At least 5 years of mechanical or process experience at journeyman level, or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Five to ten years of relevant construction-industry experience, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- Hands-on exposure to mechanical systems such as exhaust, chillers, pumps, and related equipment.
- Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including SMACNA.
- Comfortable using MS Office.

Work environment and physical requirements
- Work may involve standing, walking, sitting, and frequent use of hands and fingers.
- Occasional climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crawling may be required.
- The role includes continual talking or hearing and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic chemicals, moving mechanical parts, and high or precarious areas.
- Noise levels are generally moderate.
- You may need to lift or move more than 20 pounds occasionally.
- Required vision abilities include close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception, plus the ability to adjust focus.
- You must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as eye protection, hard hat, lab coat, gloves, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and respirators.
- The job requires safe movement through indoor and outdoor obstacles during site inspections, including ladders, stairs, catwalks, and uneven surfaces.
