Key responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled checks and maintenance work to keep the facility operating smoothly, including attention to electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, and other core building services.
- Act quickly on maintenance requests and complete repairs, whether that means replacing parts, fixing equipment, or resolving building-related faults.
- Monitor compliance with safety rules and standards, perform routine safety inspections, and address hazards without delay.
- Service and look after maintenance tools, machinery, power equipment, and other assets used in day-to-day operations.
- Support painting and decorating work to help maintain the property’s appearance.
- Keep accurate logs of inspections, repair work, and completed maintenance activities.
- Track stocks of tools, supplies, and equipment so everything needed is available when required.
- Be ready to handle urgent issues such as leaks, flooding, power failures, and other emergency maintenance situations.
- Work collaboratively with the wider maintenance team and communicate politely and professionally with occupants and colleagues.
- Follow health and safety procedures at all times, including the correct use of PPE and site protocols.
- Take a preventive approach by identifying possible issues early and addressing them before they develop into larger problems.
Requirements
- Practical knowledge and hands-on experience with plumbing systems, installations, and repairs.
- Working familiarity with additional maintenance areas such as tiling, carpentry, electrical work, painting, and general repairs.
- Ability to handle physically demanding duties, including lifting, bending, and working outdoors or in changing weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting ability to diagnose and resolve maintenance problems efficiently.
- Good communication skills for reporting tasks, coordinating with team members, and updating supervisors.
- Clear understanding of health and safety requirements relevant to maintenance work.
- Relevant certifications or licences, such as a driving licence or trade-specific qualification, are beneficial.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, particularly when emergencies arise.
