Role Overview
This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity for an IT Support Engineer to join the Technology team in Melbourne. The role is focused on delivering reliable first- and second-line end-user computing support for employees across Australian offices, while also helping improve support processes and contributing to project work such as device rollouts, upgrades, and system enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to support requests received by email, phone, and walk-up interactions, following the organisation’s standard procedures.
- Assess and route service requests and incidents to the right teams when needed.
- Own assigned issues and ad hoc queries end-to-end, keeping records accurate and ensuring the issue is closed to the requester’s satisfaction.
- Prioritise, investigate, and resolve incidents within agreed service levels and process guidelines.
- Complete service requests in line with documented workflows.
- Handle workstation setups, relocations, and replacement of desktop peripherals as required.
- Prepare and deploy laptops for new joiners and device replacements.
- Support identity and access management activities such as user provisioning, role-based access administration, password resets, and troubleshooting authentication or authorisation problems.
- Maintain clear and thorough process documentation.
- Track IT consumables, maintain stock levels, and arrange replenishment when needed.
- Work with other teams to resolve more complex technical problems.
- Coordinate with suppliers for managed print services, third-party escalations, and purchase quotations.
- Identify opportunities to improve end-user computing services and help implement updates.
- Provide basic support for hardware, software, and network issues, including printers and audio-visual equipment, and escalate when appropriate.
- Assist with project activities and testing tasks under the direction of senior team members.
Required Experience and Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in a helpdesk, technical support, or similar role.
- Experience in financial services is highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience supporting Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Working knowledge of Apple iOS devices.
- Good understanding of email and collaboration tools such as Outlook, Exchange, and Teams.
- Familiarity with endpoint management platforms such as Microsoft SCCM and Microsoft Intune.
- Experience with Active Directory and Group Policy administration and troubleshooting.
- Mobile device management experience, ideally with Microsoft Intune.
- Exposure to IT service management tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Ivanti.
- Working knowledge of ITIL service management practices is an advantage.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to understand technical and business objectives and contribute to successful outcomes.
- Customer-focused mindset and strong commitment to service quality.
- Well-developed communication and documentation abilities.
Qualifications
- A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Business, or equivalent industry experience, is preferred.
- ITIL v3 or ITIL v4 certification is desirable.
