IT Support Engineer - Enterprise Monitoring (Data Centre Operations)

Role overview

This position is for a junior to early-career IT Support Engineer to work within a Data Centre Operations team in Abu Dhabi, supporting a major financial institution in the UAE. The role is heavily hands-on and centers on enterprise monitoring, backup execution, and support for core banking operations.

Key duties

• Carry out daily monitoring of servers, hardware, applications, and essential processes, including availability checks and confirmation that scheduled tasks such as backups and disaster recovery replication have completed successfully.
• Run daily backup activities, making sure file systems and data are properly protected, recovery media is produced, and backup media is rotated and reused where required.
• Deliver first-line support to multiple teams by looking into issues and helping resolve them as they occur.
• Observe system, application, and data centre performance and capacity to spot risks or bottlenecks.
• Assist with end-of-day core banking processing and prepare the related reports.
• Handle alerts from IT systems, data centre tools, databases, and hardware failures or malfunctions.
• Record incidents carefully and keep tracking and reporting accurate and up to date.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Computer Engineering.
• Between 0 and 2 years of relevant experience in IT support or data centre operations.
• Practical understanding of servers, including rack and blade systems, storage platforms such as SAN and NAS, backup and archive solutions, and operating systems like Windows and Linux, with AIX knowledge considered preferable.
• Exposure to virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenShift will be an added advantage.
• Experience or exposure to banking, finance, or core banking environments is strongly preferred.
• Arabic fluency and a good level of English.
• Based in the UAE or prepared to relocate to Abu Dhabi.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to work flexible schedules, including shifts if needed.
