Project Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced illustrator to help create a moving children’s picture book through rich, cinematic, painterly artwork. The assignment includes producing 26 full-colour interior illustrations plus a cover, all formatted to 8.5” x 8.5”. The visual direction should feel warm, emotionally engaging, and refined, with realistic body proportions and gentle cinematic lighting so the final artwork connects with young readers and their families.
The illustrator will be provided with detailed character sheets, scene notes, and reference material to keep the look consistent and the storytelling seamless across the entire book. The selection process starts with a paid test illustration to confirm style fit and creative alignment.
Responsibilities
- Create 26 full-colour interior illustrations and one cover image in a cinematic, painterly style designed for children’s publishing.
- Maintain consistent character appearance and emotional continuity throughout the book.
- Work from supplied character sheets, scene breakdowns, and visual references.
- Prepare artwork in the required 8.5” x 8.5” print-ready format.
- Complete a paid test illustration during the selection stage.
- Apply feedback and revisions in line with the agreed project terms.
- Ensure all submitted artwork is original and not generated using AI.
