Company overview

Skingevity is building a platform to acquire and grow medical aesthetics clinics throughout the UK. The business is focused on bringing together a fragmented, fast-expanding market by partnering with strong clinicians and strengthening operational performance. The founders include a former BCG Principal with experience in strategy and medical aesthetics, and a former Goldman Sachs Vice President with a strong background in mergers and acquisitions. The company has recently secured funding and is already progressing multiple live acquisition opportunities.

Role summary

The Group Financial Controller will be a senior hire tasked with building, running, and improving the finance function from the ground up. This is a hands-on position that combines strategic oversight with daily execution. You will work closely with the Co-CEOs and clinic leadership to maintain accurate financial control, reporting, and governance across the group’s clinics.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of financial control across the parent company and each clinic.
  • Set up and refine the chart of accounts, accounting standards, and reporting formats.
  • Manage bookkeeping activities within Xero.
  • Produce monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts.
  • Prepare and file VAT submissions, including partial VAT calculations.
  • Lead the group’s monthly payroll cycle with support from HR.
  • Assist with acquisitions and integration work after deals complete.
  • Build budgets and financial models for planning and decision-making.
  • Track cash movement and establish forecasting routines.
  • Compile board papers and investor reporting packs.

Required experience and skills

  • ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualification, along with experience in a controllership position.
  • Background from a Big 4 or other top-tier accountancy firm, typically audit-trained, plus at least 3 years of post-qualification experience in industry.
  • Demonstrated ownership of the full accounting cycle, including month-end close, statutory reporting, VAT, and audit liaison.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and consolidation capability.
  • Comfortable working in a very practical capacity, including preparing accounts, completing reconciliations, and improving processes.
  • Confident using Xero, Excel, and financial reporting tools.

Desirable background

  • Experience creating finance processes from the ground up.
  • Exposure to multi-site or multi-entity businesses.
  • Experience in VC-, PE-, or family-office-backed organisations.
  • Background in start-up or high-growth environments.
  • Familiarity with partial VAT exemption, ideally in healthcare, medical, or mixed-supply settings.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a focus on introducing structure in a scaling business.

Working arrangements

The salary is £75,000 to £90,000 per year plus bonus. The role follows a hybrid pattern with 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home. The standard working schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 17:30.
