Role overview

Volkswagen Group Ireland is hiring a practical and experienced Facilities Manager for a full-time fixed-term contract of two years. The role covers the daily running, safety, compliance and ongoing improvement of the company’s corporate headquarters and the National Learning Academy. It is suited to someone who can balance hands-on facilities work with stakeholder coordination, problem-solving and a strong focus on safe, efficient workplaces.

Facilities operations

• Take charge of facilities activity across two locations: the corporate HQ and the National Learning Academy, including specialist tools, vehicles and high-voltage equipment.
• Keep buildings, equipment and essential infrastructure operating safely and dependably.
• Run office support services such as mail handling, consumables, meeting rooms and visitor arrangements in line with business requirements.
• Support employee onboarding and exit processes from a facilities perspective so transitions are smooth.

Compliance, health & safety and risk

• Ensure the sites remain compliant with Irish law and Volkswagen Group standards covering health and safety, fire safety, high-risk technical settings and physical security.
• Keep statutory registers, inspection records and other compliance evidence up to date.
• Carry out regular audits, risk reviews and safety checks across both locations.
• Manage fire safety activities such as drills, equipment testing and legally required certifications.
• Own business continuity planning and emergency response readiness.

Physical security and resilience

• Oversee site security systems including access control, CCTV, alarms and monitoring tools.
• Spot potential security concerns early and escalate them appropriately.
• Work with the CISO, Group Security and outside agencies if a security incident occurs.
• Review and implement safeguards that protect essential services such as fire alarms, leak detection and backup power.
• Ensure training areas, specialist equipment, vehicles and hazardous assets are managed securely.

Contractor and supplier management

• Source, manage and review facilities contractors and service providers.
• Handle contract discussions, service-level monitoring and value-for-money checks.
• Make sure contractors work safely and meet all legal and Volkswagen Group standards.
• Manage annual budgets for maintenance, security, facilities and utilities.

Sustainability and ESG

• Support ESG objectives through waste reduction, recycling, energy efficiency and responsible purchasing.
• Monitor energy consumption and look for practical ways to improve performance.
• Help with CSRD reporting by collecting data and improving operating practices.

Training and culture

• Organise and deliver mandatory training covering physical security, health and safety, fire safety and site-specific procedures.
• Help strengthen a safety-first culture by guiding managers and employees.
• Provide induction training for the National Learning Academy so staff can work safely around high-risk equipment.

Digitalisation and continuous improvement

• Update facilities processes by introducing digital tools such as maintenance logs, asset tracking and supplier dashboards.
• Drive improvement projects that simplify workflows, improve safety and make operations future-ready.
• Align facilities processes with upcoming HRIS and workflow digitisation initiatives where relevant.

Experience and qualifications

The role calls for more than five years’ facilities management experience in a multi-site corporate or technical setting. You should also bring hands-on experience in health and safety, physical security, statutory compliance and contractor oversight. Comfort working in high-risk technical environments involving tools, vehicles and electrical systems is important.

Technical knowledge

You should understand physical security systems such as CCTV, access control and alarms, along with asset and infrastructure areas including power, connectivity and HVAC. The role also requires confidence with risk assessments, incident handling, compliance records, building rules, health and safety legislation and fire safety obligations.

Desirable profile

A diploma in facilities management or an equivalent qualification is preferred. Additional certifications in health and safety, fire safety, emergency response or security management would be an advantage. Experience with sustainability projects, energy management and digital facilities tools or CAFM systems is also desirable.
