About the Organization
FHI 360 UK-Nigeria is a wholly owned subsidiary within the FHI 360 group of companies. It was established in 2026 to deliver programme implementation, project management, and advisory, technical, and support services across humanitarian, development, public health, educational, and social impact work. The organization also supports the wider range of FHI 360 services, with particular focus on global health security and economic resilience.
Role Summary
The Driver will work under the Operations Business Manager, or another delegate, and report technically to the Logistics Manager. The position is based in Abuja, FCT. The role is responsible for providing safe, dependable, and efficient transport for staff, consultants, visitors, equipment, and programme materials within Abuja and surrounding areas. Travel will include movements between the Country Office and partner offices, government institutions, airports, hotels, guest houses, health facilities, warehouses, and other approved destinations, while following organizational rules, safety requirements, and fleet procedures.
Key Duties
- Inspect the vehicle before first use in the morning and again after use.
- Confirm that all checklist items and vehicle tools/materials are present and working when taking over a vehicle.
- Report any fault or damage without delay.
- Prepare and submit a monthly report on mileage, fuel use, and maintenance to the head driver.
- Make sure every trip is approved in advance.
- Enter every trip in the logbook at both departure and return.
- Keep vehicle documents, including insurance, valid and filed properly at all times.
- Store vehicle keys and documents securely when the car is not being used.
- Ensure every passenger wears a seat belt before the vehicle moves.
- Operate FHI 360 vehicles within approved speed limits and in line with fleet rules.
- Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses immediately.
- Prioritize passenger safety at all times.
- Follow security instructions and alerts carefully.
- Provide support to logistics and warehouse staff when needed.
Skills and Knowledge
- Ability to respond promptly to emergency callouts.
- Capability to transport staff, equipment, and materials safely.
- Understanding of visibility protocols and the discipline to follow them consistently.
- Ability to keep the vehicle clean inside and outside every day.
- Skill in identifying vehicle faults and carrying out minor repairs.
- Willingness and ability to provide basic logistics support.
Requirements
- SSCE or NECO certificate is required.
- At least 4 years of professional driving experience with a reputable organization such as an INGO, corporate employer, or government body.
- Experience as a mechanic or auto-electrician is an added advantage.
- Experience working in North-Central Nigeria or another relatively insecure environment is desirable.
- A valid national driving licence is mandatory.
- Strong verbal communication and listening ability.
- Ability to communicate in English and Hausa.
- Computer literacy, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The expected annual gross salary range for this role is indexed to USD 3,550 to 4,200, inclusive of basic salary and allowances.
