Role overview

This is a senior leadership opportunity for a Director of PMO, based in the United States. The role is being handled by a hiring partner, which will manage applications and all later steps in the process.

You will be responsible for building and expanding a high-performing Project Management Office that raises the bar for customer implementations and professional services delivery. The position combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational ownership, covering project governance, portfolio oversight, delivery execution, and financial discipline. You will also help define delivery standards, improve implementation practices, and strengthen the organization’s overall operating maturity.

This role partners closely with executive leaders and teams across product, engineering, sales, finance, and customer success to make sure delivery priorities stay aligned with company goals. In addition, you will lead and grow a team of project managers while improving scalability, efficiency, and profitability within the services organization. It is a high-impact position in a fast-moving SaaS environment where operational rigor and strategic influence both matter.

Key responsibilities

• Own the PMO function end to end by setting governance models, delivery standards, methodologies, KPIs, tools, and reporting practices.
• Put in place and maintain consistent project execution methods across customer implementations and internal initiatives.
• Monitor portfolio performance, including risks, dependencies, staffing allocation, and delivery outcomes.
• Act as the main escalation contact for delivery challenges and coordinate resolution across functions.
• Manage, coach, and develop a team of Project Managers, encouraging ownership, teamwork, and ongoing growth.
• Set clear performance expectations and support career progression, mentoring, and skill development across the team.
• Ensure implementation work is delivered effectively, with attention to scope, timelines, risks, stakeholders, and issues.
• Continuously refine delivery approaches by applying lessons learned and operational insights.
• Oversee professional services operations such as forecasting, utilization, capacity planning, and margin results.
• Create executive-level reporting and dashboards that make project and portfolio status visible.
• Work with senior stakeholders to align delivery priorities with business strategy and customer success.
• Promote the use of PMO platforms, automation, and AI-supported workflows to improve efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in PMO, program management, or project delivery leadership.
• Hands-on background leading SaaS implementation teams and enterprise customer deployments.
• Deep understanding of PMO governance, portfolio management, and delivery frameworks.
• Experience handling forecasting, budgeting, capacity planning, utilization, and other operational metrics.
• Track record of leading and developing strong project management teams.
• Excellent executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
• Experience working across product, engineering, sales, finance, and customer success teams.
• Ability to manage several complex customer implementations at the same time.
• Comfort with Agile and hybrid delivery approaches in SaaS settings.
• Exposure to PMO and delivery tools such as Wrike, Jira, Salesforce, or similar systems.
• PMP certification is a plus, and retail or supply chain experience is considered an advantage.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management abilities.
