Role overview
Hack The Box is hiring a Data Analyst to support the analytics needs of its cybersecurity training business. In this position, you will use data to demonstrate the business value and return on investment of the platform, especially for client relationships in the federal space. The work combines SQL-heavy analysis, dashboarding, and executive-level storytelling to explain how training influences human risk and security outcomes.
Location and work arrangement
- Preferred location: United States, with a preference for candidates on the East Coast.
- Work mode: fully remote.
Team structure
This role belongs to the Federal Sales organization and reports to the SVP of Global Federal & SLED. You will collaborate with account executives, BDRs, Solutions Engineers, Customer Success, and the Data Engineering team.
Key responsibilities
The role focuses on client-facing analytics, data quality, and insight delivery. You will help federal stakeholders connect compliance and security goals to measurable data outcomes, build dashboards and presentations, and provide recommendations based on user behavior and simulation data.
Tools and technologies
- Looker as the main reporting platform, with Tableau also in use.
- SQL on BigQuery, with Snowflake familiarity considered helpful for legacy work.
- Python for analysis, automation, and statistical work.
- Excel for modeling and ad hoc analysis.
- AI-assisted tools such as LLM copilots to speed up analysis and prototyping.
What the job involves
- Work with federal agency stakeholders to turn business and compliance needs into practical data solutions.
- Use SQL and Python to analyze large datasets and show connections between training activity and reduced security incidents.
- Build interactive dashboards and leadership-ready presentations that make return on investment easy to understand.
- Study user behavior and simulation logs to identify high-risk groups and recommend improvements to training programs.
- Check data flows and reporting integrity so telemetry remains accurate from the platform through the reporting layer.
- Support executive business reviews and partner with Product and Data Engineering on telemetry and reporting needs.
Experience and skill expectations
Hack The Box is looking for someone who can work confidently with data, communicate clearly with senior stakeholders, and transform technical analysis into practical business narratives. Strong SQL, Python, visualization, Excel, and stakeholder management skills are essential. Experience in customer success metrics and familiarity with cybersecurity or EdTech are beneficial.
Compensation and benefits
The annual gross compensation range for this role is USD 95,000 to 120,000.
