About the Role

Wilson Elser, a major defense litigation law firm with more than 1,400 attorneys across 46 U.S. offices, is hiring a Data Analyst for its New York office. The firm has been serving clients since 1978 and is recognized among the nation’s largest law firms. This role sits within the Business Solutions & Innovations team and supports a broad modernization effort across longstanding technology and business workflows, with a focus on efficiency, sustainability, and competitive improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The analyst will build and support reporting solutions for internal stakeholders, work with operational databases, and use Power BI Analysis Services to create visualizations and reports. The role also involves leveraging Aderant database and software tools for financial reporting, cleaning and refining data, responding to ad hoc information requests, and communicating effectively with both internal teams and outside resources. In addition, the position requires reviewing older scripting routines, reverse engineering them where needed, and documenting how they work.

Qualifications

Candidates should bring 1 to 3 years of experience in financial systems administration and 1 to 3 years of recent experience working with the Aderant financial system. Strong data management and analysis ability is required, along with working knowledge of Power BI Analysis Services. The role also calls for MS SQL, SSRS, and SQL query skills, excellent Excel proficiency with the ability to debug and develop as needed, and familiarity with VBA/macros as a plus. Experience with JIRA or a similar task-management tool is preferred, along with strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, multitasking skills, clear oral communication, and the ability to write concise and accurate reports and recommendations. Organizational strength and the ability to meet deadlines are important. Experience with legal e-billing platform transitions, integration, and implementation is a plus, as is knowledge of Sequel Viewpoint Systems and prior work in mid- to large-sized law firms. A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related field, is desired; substantial industry experience may also be considered.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is USD 80,000 to USD 90,000 per year. Compensation is determined by multiple factors, including experience, education, licensure or certifications, geographic location, market conditions, and other business needs or legally permitted considerations. The final offer may fall outside the stated range depending on individual circumstances.
