Role overview
This position is for an interview-based hiring process. The courier will be responsible for courteous, reliable pickup and delivery of parcels along an assigned route, ensuring each shipment meets Federal Express Canada service standards and providing customer-facing support as needed.
Key duties
- Collect and deliver packages efficiently on the designated route.
- Verify shipments against Federal Express Canada service requirements.
- Handle related customer service tasks professionally.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities
- High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving history are mandatory.
- Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs and move packages weighing up to 150 lbs using proper equipment.
- At least 1 year of customer-oriented business experience is preferred.
- Successful completion of the mandatory pre-placement driver assessment training is required.
- Knowledge of Federal Express Canada operations and Canadian customs rules is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills are needed.
- Good planning, organization, and time management abilities are important.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and stay composed in a demanding environment is expected.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules and holidays based on business requirements is necessary.
Schedule and location details
This is a full-time courier role based in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. The selected candidate must be domiciled in Nipigon, Ontario. The shift begins at 9:00 AM, follows a 4x10 schedule from Monday to Friday, and includes a minimum of 35 hours per week.
Pay details
The hourly pay rate is $22.60.
Additional requirements and conditions
The role includes broader expectations beyond the core courier duties, such as completing any assigned tasks, passing required testing and training, working in a PC Windows environment, maintaining recurrence training and annual accreditations where applicable, and adapting to varying shifts as business needs change. Candidates whose province of residence is Quebec must be bilingual in French and English. For driving-based roles, applicants must hold a valid driver’s license such as Class 5, G, or 1[AZ] and have no more than two violations and/or accidents in the 24 months before applying. Selection also considers the current driver abstract, interview performance, and performance on any driver competency assessments.
