Role overview

Join the Motorway Operations Control Centre (MOCC) in Dublin, where a team monitors 1,200 km of motorway, tunnel and national roads on behalf of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). This is a distinctive position in Ireland, supported by thorough training across safety response and traffic management systems. The control room operates with one of Europe’s largest wall-mounted TV displays, giving the team a live view across the network.

From the Dublin Tunnel site in East Wall, Dublin 3, the centre runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The team plays a key role in protecting road users and coordinating responses to incidents ranging from collisions and spilled loads to unusual situations such as helping ducklings cross the motorway. It also uses advanced traffic management tools to manage incidents and congestion on the M50 in Dublin.

What you will do

  • Respond quickly to incidents, accidents and emergencies across the national motorway network and/or Dublin Tunnel.
  • Work on a 4 on, 4 off shift rotation.
  • Use modern systems and technology to spot, assess and control traffic flow and incident activity.
  • Work closely with emergency services, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver fast, effective responses.
  • Issue clear and accurate guidance to drivers through channels such as variable message signs and social media.
  • Keep detailed incident records and produce full reports as part of day-to-day administration.
  • Support safe and efficient traffic movement through strong communication with colleagues, road users and external partners.
  • Follow company standards and procedures in line with ISO 55001, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001.

What we are looking for

  • At least 2 years of relevant customer service experience.
  • A strong eye for detail and a proactive, motivated approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Confidence working with a range of stakeholders and coordinating responses.
  • Good organisational ability for managing logs and reporting tasks.
  • Previous experience in a control room or traffic management environment would be an advantage.
