Role overview
The Control Officer will oversee the monitoring, analysis, and coordination of journey and safety-related activities. The role is focused on improving operational effectiveness, supporting productivity, and ensuring adherence to company requirements and standards.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee journey management processes so drivers, vehicles, and other resources are used effectively.
- Plan, monitor, and evaluate trips to support punctuality, fuel efficiency, and compliance with approved routes.
- Use GPS, telematics, or tracking dashboards to follow live journey performance.
- Spot and escalate route changes, delays, or any breach of procedure.
- Produce productivity reports covering measures such as trip duration, fuel usage, and downtime.
- Suggest improvements that can streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Make sure journey management practices align with company policies, safety expectations, and applicable regulations.
- Gather, check, and keep accurate records of safety information, incidents, near-misses, and corrective actions.
- Create, refresh, and manage safety and productivity dashboards that give management up-to-date performance visibility.
- Monitor safety patterns, risk signals, and non-compliance issues to support proactive risk control.
- Follow up on open safety items and make sure corrective actions are completed on time.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly control reports for management use.
- Share data-based recommendations that improve journey safety and productivity.
- Serve as the main coordination point for journey control and safety data between drivers, supervisors, and management.
Skills and competencies
The position calls for strong knowledge of journey management and safety management systems, along with the ability to work with reporting tools and interpret operational data. Attention to detail, sound communication, and the ability to work across teams are also important.
Qualifications and experience
- A bachelor’s degree in Transport Management, Computer Science, or a related discipline is required.
- Applicants should have 1 to 5 years of experience in operations control, journey management, safety monitoring, or data analysis.
- Hands-on experience with GPS tracking, telematics platforms, or dashboard/reporting tools will be an advantage.
