Role overview

Visiting Angels’ Anniston office is hiring caregivers who want meaningful work supporting seniors and other people who need daily assistance. This role is suited to individuals who value compassion, community service, and hands-on support in the home care setting. The team serves Anniston and nearby areas including Oxford, Pell City, Sylacauga, Childersburg, Riverside, Talladega, Oneonta, Alpine, Lineville, Piedmont, Heflin, Glencoe, Wedowee, Jacksonville, and surrounding communities.

This position offers more than routine caregiving work. It is an opportunity to make a real difference for families while building experience in elder care and home care. Caregivers may also receive advanced training in areas such as dementia care and Alzheimer’s care to continue expanding their professional skills.

Shift options

• Full-time
• PRN

Key duties

• Support clients in taking medications as prescribed
• Help with movement and walking inside the home and during outside activities such as appointments or walks
• Assist with bathing, grooming, and other personal care needs
• Guide clients through routine exercise activities
• Prepare meals, involving clients when they are able to participate
• Handle shopping tasks or accompany clients while they shop
• Carry out light household tasks the client cannot manage alone
• Offer friendly companionship and emotional support
• Notice and report unusual events or changes
• Respond promptly and appropriately in emergency situations

Candidate profile

• A genuine desire to care for and serve others
• Solid understanding of first aid and emergency response
• Familiarity with housekeeping and cooking, including attention to dietary needs
• Commitment to following health and safety practices
• Respectful, kind, and compassionate manner
• Strong time management ability
• Excellent communication and people skills
• High ethical standards
• Good physical stamina
• High school diploma or an equivalent qualification
