Back End Developer - AI Trainer

About the role

This opportunity is for an experienced back-end developer who will help improve AI systems through coding-focused training work. You will join a large engineering community working across front-end, back-end, full-stack, machine learning, and related disciplines to create practical impact in AI development.

The work combines flexibility with technical challenge. You will interact with advanced AI models on tasks such as solving programming problems, building feature-rich applications, and drawing insights from data analysis and visualisation. Your contributions help refine systems that learn and improve over time. Some people use this as a side engagement alongside another job, while others treat it as their main work and select projects around their availability.

How the process works

After creating an account, you will complete a short assessment, which acts as the screening step. If you are successful, you will receive confirmation by email and paid work will then be available through the platform.

Responsibilities

• Create and solve a range of coding challenges used to train AI models, with a strong focus on Android development.
• Produce clean code examples along with clear, well-structured explanations.
• Review AI-generated code for correctness, speed, and readability.
• Share feedback that helps improve future model behaviour.

• Hourly pay starts at $50 to $100+ per hour, with higher rates possible for some assignments.

Qualifications

• Strong command of English at a native or bilingual level.
• Experience with Kotlin is preferred.
• Ability to work in at least one of these languages or frameworks: JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, C, C#, C++, React, Go, Java, or Swift.
• Excellent written communication and grammar.
• Bachelor’s degree, either completed or currently being pursued.
• Background as a software developer, coder, software engineer, or programmer is preferred.

Payment and contract terms

Compensation is processed through PayPal, and the platform will not ask you to pay any fees. Any currency conversion from USD is handled by PayPal. This role is available only to applicants in the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. Candidates outside these locations will not see assignments or assessments. This is an independent contractor position.
