About the role

Flextronics Technologies (I) Pvt Ltd is seeking a Developer - IT to join its Chennai team. The role focuses on building, improving, testing, and supporting business applications while working closely with internal stakeholders, technical teams, and business users.

What you will do

• Work with stakeholders to shape the implementation approach for business solutions.
• Make sure delivered products meet customer expectations and function as intended.
• Perform solution testing and QA before handing work over to other teams for additional testing and user approval.
• Collaborate with business teams to assess and choose suitable technology vendors or applications.
• Coordinate with server and database administration teams during migrations or operating system upgrades so business operations are not disrupted.
• Investigate code issues, identify the root cause of errors, and revise programs as needed.
• Partner with database administrators to tune database performance and improve application efficiency.
• Work with engineering staff to design and refine software-machine interfaces.
• Coordinate with the application security team to address security gaps and breaches.
• Support the solution architect throughout the development lifecycle.
• Maintain, enhance, and modernize existing systems.
• Explore new UI components and emerging technologies for potential use in system solutions.
• Document program development, design decisions, test changes, and fixes clearly and consistently.
• Evaluate software and hardware options for programming platforms and development support.
• Translate designs and technical specifications into working code.
• Create screen layouts, graphical interfaces, printed output, and interfaces with other systems.
• Compile code, resolve compilation issues, and correct defects found during build processes.
• Create and execute unit, integration, and system tests for automated validation.
• Support UAT and assist in ensuring the solution meets business requirements.
• Provide technical support for questions, errors, and operational issues.
• Train end users or support teams on how to use the applications.
• Present technical updates related to project timelines or specific initiatives.
• Install and test upgrades to externally developed application components.
• Prepare technical reports, memoranda, and instructional manuals when needed.
• Keep systems updated and fix issues after implementation.
• Estimate effort, time, and cost for project completion when required.
• Review project plans or proposals to help define timelines, funding needs, and delivery procedures.
• Resolve business-critical P1 incidents and provide practical solutions.
• Work with client business system specialists and internal teams to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs for approval.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent level of systems experience is typically expected.
• 1-3 years of systems experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of application development, procedures, utilities, and job control languages is an advantage.
• Experience with office tools such as typing, telephones, word processing, spreadsheets, software tools, and basic computer troubleshooting may be required.
• Good operational and technical skills, with understanding of the company’s functional standards.
• Basic knowledge of functional concepts, policies, and procedures, along with awareness of how work affects other functions.
• Ability to work with multiple functional technologies, processes, or industries and understand their interdependencies.
• Potential to take on project leadership responsibilities.
• Capability to work in teams using source control tools such as TFS and Git.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming and SOLID principles.
• Hands-on experience with jBASE, Universe Pick Basic, and Temenos T24.

Eligibility

Graduation is not mandatory. Candidates with the right systems experience and relevant development skills may apply.

Additional information

This opportunity is based in Chennai, India. The stated compensation range is INR 4,00,000 to INR 11,00,000 per year. The role is intended for a full-time, on-site position.

Experience in development and support of business-critical systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot issues quickly and document technical work thoroughly, will be valuable in this role.
