Staff Forward Deployed AI Engineer

About the role

This role is for a senior, hands-on engineer who will work directly with business teams to turn complicated operational problems into AI-driven products and proof-of-concepts. The position calls for strong full-stack development experience, practical GenAI expertise, architectural judgment, and the ability to move quickly from concept to prototype.

You will be responsible for taking ideas from initial discovery through to a working prototype, while coordinating with product partners, subject matter experts, and engineering teams. The work involves shaping the solution, building it, and iterating fast based on feedback.

Key responsibilities

• Work with business stakeholders to clarify challenges, collect requirements, and uncover opportunities for AI-enabled solutions.
• Architect, develop, and take ownership of end-to-end prototypes and MVPs spanning frontend, backend, cloud, and AI components.
• Convert unclear business needs into practical technical designs, scalable solutions, and functional demos.
• Run fast build-demo-feedback loops with a strong focus on execution and measurable impact.
• Own architecture decisions, API design, cloud deployment, integrations, and other core technical choices.
• Create and integrate AI capabilities such as LLM applications, RAG pipelines, agent-based workflows, and automation tools.
• Support and mentor other engineers, review designs, and provide technical direction across initiatives.
• Assess feasibility, risk, and trade-offs, then recommend implementation approaches that are realistic and maintainable.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in software engineering, product engineering, or solution development.
• Strong practical experience with frontend development using React.js, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Solid backend skills in Python, FastAPI, and REST API development.
• Hands-on exposure to AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/Fargate, S3, and RDS.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and data modeling.
• Experience building and shipping GenAI solutions using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and agentic workflows.
• Strong system design and architecture capabilities with the ability to balance speed, scale, and maintainability.
• Comfort working directly with business stakeholders in ambiguous and evolving problem spaces.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical work, mentor engineers, and drive delivery.
• Nice-to-have exposure to LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI/Azure OpenAI, AI observability tools, or similar GenAI stacks.
• Preferred familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, serverless patterns, and enterprise AI platforms.
• Experience from startups, innovation labs, incubation teams, or greenfield product environments is highly valued.
• Hyderabad-based candidates in a hybrid setup are preferred, and applicants willing to work from Hyderabad are also considered.
