About the Company
Senseye is a neurotechnology company based in Austin, Texas. Over the last six years, the company has invested heavily in research and development to create a platform that measures cognitive activity through the eye using mobile phones. The team is now focused on building the first objective mental health diagnostics on top of this technology. Its first diagnostic targets PTSD and is moving into clinical trials, with future applications planned for anxiety and depression. The company aims to help clinicians identify and monitor mental health conditions with a more objective and accurate approach, potentially improving access to treatment for millions of people.
Role Overview
This is an analysis-driven Research Data Analyst position within the research and data science group. The role involves designing, running, and interpreting experimental analyses across the full research study lifecycle. The company uses AI-assisted tools to speed up coding, but this position requires strong coding fundamentals and the ability to review generated code carefully, catch subtle issues, and make final decisions on what is correct. You will work closely with senior scientists to shape hypotheses, carry out analyses, and help interpret what the results mean in the context of the experiment. Because the signals are small, accuracy and attention to detail are essential. The ideal candidate is curious, adaptable, detail-focused, and eager to grow in a collaborative research environment.
Responsibilities
- Work with research and data science colleagues to plan and carry out experimental data analyses, including defining hypotheses, expected outcomes, and suitable statistical methods.
- Build analysis workflows and statistical tests in Python with support from AI-assisted coding tools, while carefully checking the generated code for accuracy.
- Review results from start to finish by assessing data quality, confirming assumptions, identifying anomalies, and tracing unexpected findings back to their source.
- Explain findings in relation to the study design and clearly distinguish what the data supports from what it does not.
- Share analysis outcomes with the team on a regular basis.
- Prepare concise, well-structured reports that describe methods, findings, and interpretation.
- Create, maintain, and refresh technical documentation as needed.
- Join weekly project meetings and collaborate throughout study design, execution, analysis, and interpretation.
- Take on additional research-related duties as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or another related quantitative or bioscience discipline.
- Practical ability in Python and scientific libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib for analysis and statistical tasks.
- Understanding of the research process from experimental design and hypothesis development through execution, analysis, and interpretation.
- Ability to assess code and outputs critically, with care for small errors that can affect results.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
- Clear written communication skills and the ability to produce readable method and results summaries.
- Willingness to learn, improve, and build expertise over time.
- A creative, non-routine mindset and interest in exploring beyond simple AI-generated outputs to understand the underlying analysis deeply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related area.
- Experience with laboratory research or human-subjects research through a lab, thesis, internship, or publication.
- Familiarity with research statistics, including parametric, nonparametric, or Bayesian methods.
- Experience using AI coding assistants effectively by prompting, reviewing, and correcting generated code.
- Experience preparing manuscripts for publication.
Benefits
- Opportunity to shape the role as the team designs, builds, and launches products.
- Competitive pay with stock options.
- Flexible paid time off covering vacation, sick leave, and public holidays.
- Flexible working schedules.
- Company health care coverage.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Short- and long-term disability coverage.
- Life insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
- Commuter support for parking, public transit, car shares, and similar expenses.
- Mothers' room.
- Fully stocked kitchen.
- Support for continuing education.
