Role overview

This position is responsible for coordinating end-to-end project activities linked to Kahramaa GTC work and substation projects. The focus is on keeping execution on track, securing approvals on time, coordinating manpower and documentation, and maintaining effective communication with Kahramaa representatives for ongoing operations and maintenance, fault rectification, and substation-related assignments.

Core duties

  • Manage Kahramaa-related approvals and access requests for GTC and substation activities, including gate passes for staff and vehicles, LOA processing, master key requests, work permits, shutdown applications, and material/tool clearances.
  • Follow up with Kahramaa Transmission and Distribution teams to monitor approval progress and avoid delays in mobilizing site teams.
  • Coordinate GTC operational work such as emergency fault response, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and cable fault tracing and repair.
  • Arrange rapid deployment of teams for urgent Kahramaa requirements and confirm that tools, equipment, and access permissions are ready in advance.
  • Support substation project execution for 132kV, 220kV, and LV/MV works.
  • Work closely with relay protection specialists, testing and commissioning engineers, cable jointers, and fitters to plan and execute activities in live substations.
  • Coordinate shutdown schedules and ensure work is carried out safely and with the required documentation in place.
  • Organize and coordinate field manpower, including cable jointers, fitters, and relay protection/testing personnel, based on project needs.
  • Track work progress, completion status, and productivity across assigned teams.
  • Set up meetings with Kahramaa engineers and inspectors, prepare minutes of meeting, and follow through on action items.
  • Act as the communication link between Kahramaa stakeholders and internal company teams.
  • Manage Kahramaa prequalification and vendor-related submissions, including company registration updates, upgrades, and approvals for suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain an updated record of Kahramaa-approved vendors and subcontractors and support tendering activities for GTC and substation works.
  • Compile and submit complete project documentation such as as-built drawings, relay/cable/commissioning test reports, work completion records, and shutdown/restoration documentation.
  • Ensure all final submissions follow Kahramaa standards and required formats.
  • Coordinate internally executed works, tracking deliverables, schedules, and material movement between procurement, stores, and site teams.
  • Ensure self-executed projects are completed and handed over on time.
  • Maintain compliance with Kahramaa operational and safety requirements throughout all activities.
  • Keep project trackers updated for approval status, progress, pending items, delays, and resource needs.
  • Share regular status updates with management, including risks, delays, and manpower/material requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred; a diploma may also be considered if supported by relevant experience.
  • At least 4 to 6 years of experience in Qatar, specifically within Kahramaa GTC and substation projects.
  • Practical exposure to KM approvals, shutdown coordination, and project documentation.
  • Arabic fluency is mandatory, along with working English communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Kahramaa workflows, substation operations, and GTC execution processes.
  • Good coordination, follow-up, and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable using MS Office and handling professional project documentation.
  • Experience with Kahramaa Transmission and Distribution departments is preferred.
