Payroll Specialist

Role overview

This is a full-time, on-site payroll position in Doha, Qatar. The role is responsible for running payroll from start to finish, making sure employee pay is calculated correctly, paid on time, and processed with the right deductions and adjustments.

Core responsibilities

• Run monthly payroll for salaried staff and daily payroll for wage-based workers.
• Work out pay elements such as basic salary, overtime, shift allowances, incentives, bonuses, leave salary, and other earnings tied to payroll.
• Apply deductions for items such as loans, salary advances, and penalties.
• Review attendance data, timesheets, work rotations, shift patterns, schedules, and leave balances before payroll is finalized.
• Handle payroll for employees working on-site, offshore, in the field, and across project-based assignments with different work patterns.
• Produce monthly payroll statements, reconciliation files, and management-level payroll summaries.
• Keep payroll documents and records organized and audit-ready.
• Protect the privacy and confidentiality of all employee compensation details.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required.

Experience

The position calls for 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, ideally gained in the oil and gas, energy, EPC, construction, or industrial sectors. Hands-on exposure to both monthly salaried payroll and daily wage payroll is necessary.

Skills and competencies

The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of payroll operations and statutory compliance, along with practical experience using payroll software and HRIS platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Odoo, or comparable ERP systems. Advanced Excel capability, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis, is important. High numerical accuracy and close attention to detail are also essential.
