Role Overview
The Network Engineer Specialist will take ownership of the company’s network environment, covering design, deployment, protection, monitoring, and optimization. The position is focused on maintaining strong availability, reliable performance, and robust security across network services while staying aligned with business needs and recognized industry standards.
Key Accountabilities
- Design and plan network architecture.
- Implement network solutions and infrastructure.
- Oversee security, quality assurance, and compliance.
- Handle network operations and continuous monitoring.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity readiness.
- Maintain documentation and reporting.
- Take part in network procurement activities.
- Manage network installation and configuration tasks.
- Support knowledge transfer across the team.
Key Activities
- Collect business needs and translate them into suitable network design and infrastructure recommendations.
- Stay current with networking technologies, topologies, vendors, and service providers to support capacity planning and connectivity design.
- Recommend technical hardware specifications for procurement decisions.
- Oversee the receipt, stock handling, delivery note confirmation, and pre-installation checks for network equipment.
- Contribute to the assessment of networking projects, services, and external providers.
- Understand data center facilities and hosting requirements for servers, active network components, and passive components before installation work begins.
- Assist with installation and configuration planning based on approved designs, project requirements, and best practices.
- Review installation checklists for network configuration and deployment work.
- Carry out acceptance testing after installations are completed.
- Prepare guidelines and checklists for security and quality assurance.
- Participate in data center facility and hardware security procedures.
- Support network access security activities and performance tuning.
- Contribute to hardware, performance, and service improvement initiatives.
- Participate in disaster recovery processes.
- Assist with network administration and monitoring.
- Prepare network performance and security reports.
- Recommend needed hardware and service enhancements.
- Carry out periodic network maintenance procedures.
- Maintain records of network hardware, services, and related activities.
- Document implemented changes and completed activities.
- Submit and file change management forms, technical documents, event logs, security reports, performance reports, and related records.
- Coordinate with other team members and related service teams to enable knowledge sharing.
- Train team members and support collaboration, planning, coordination, and transfer of knowledge.
Technical Requirements
- Strong command of core networking protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and VLANs.
- Hands-on experience with routing and switching technologies.
- Exposure to network security tools including firewalls and IDS/IPS.
- Understanding of data center infrastructure and cloud networking concepts.
- Experience using monitoring platforms such as SolarWinds and PRTG.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery and high-availability network design.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications are preferred, such as CCNA, CCNP, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or AWS/Azure networking credentials.
Experience
Candidates should have 2 to 4 years of experience in network engineering or a closely related field.
