Overview
Icehouse Ventures is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Marketing Coordinator to become part of the marketing function. This position has opened because a current team member is stepping into a new internal opportunity. The role is practical and delivery-focused, sitting at the core of how the organisation communicates through social channels, email, events, and related marketing activity.
The right person will enjoy writing and shaping content, be motivated by telling the stories of one of New Zealand’s most active communities of founders and investors, and also be comfortable handling the operational work that keeps marketing running smoothly. The role comes with a strong sense of ownership, from managing the social calendar and newsletters to setting up event workflows in HubSpot and ensuring the brand remains visible and consistent across channels.
This opportunity will suit someone who likes making things happen, values accuracy and attention to detail, and wants their work to contribute to a larger mission.
Role structure and working style
This is a full-time, in-person role based in Auckland. It is an individual contributor position reporting to the Head of Marketing, and you will collaborate closely with the Head of Design, Portfolio Community Manager(s), and Business Operations Manager.
Icehouse Ventures is built on a highly engaged team of 25+ people. The environment rewards people who bring optimism, move quickly, work carefully, and enjoy being part of a high-performing team. The company aims to build an ambitious team aligned to its values, with people who enjoy the work, the founders and investors they support, and the opportunity to contribute to long-term mission-led success.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the social content calendar across LinkedIn and Instagram, including writing copy, scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and sharing performance updates.
- Turn events and campaigns into engaging social content that fits the Icehouse Ventures brand voice.
- Draft, produce, and send newsletters and event-related communications for investors and founders.
- Support broader communications work and briefing tasks for the Head of Marketing.
- Build, segment, and maintain contact lists in HubSpot so the CRM data stays accurate and useful.
- Help improve audience journeys through email nurture, digital touchpoints, and website updates so communication stays timely and relevant.
- Manage the HubSpot setup for events, including RSVP flows, confirmation emails, forms, and attendee lists.
- Support events end-to-end, from invitation through to pack-down and post-event follow-up.
- Keep portfolio company pages and website content up to date.
- Coordinate merchandise sourcing, gifting, and surprise-and-delight initiatives.
- Create SOPs and process documentation so workflows are repeatable and not dependent on one person’s memory.
- Track marketing activity across social, email, and CRM channels and turn the results into useful insights for the wider team.
What will help you succeed
- Strong storytelling ability and a good feel for copywriting, especially for short-form content and brand-aligned messaging.
- A practical, action-oriented mindset with the ability to work quickly while still maintaining quality.
- Genuine interest in gaining exposure across multiple areas of marketing.
- Creative thinking and a willingness to contribute fresh ideas to marketing initiatives.
- A collaborative approach and a flexible attitude, including being willing to help with hands-on tasks when needed.
- Interest in startups, entrepreneurship, and investment.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities.
Ideal background
The preferred experience is 1–2 years or more of post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a startup or agency setting, though this is not essential. The role also suits someone who understands social media platforms and trends, has experience growing communities, and can plan and run effective social campaigns. A good eye for design and confidence using tools such as Canva, CapCut, or similar platforms, including AI tools, will be useful. Familiarity with marketing technology, especially CRM and customer success systems such as HubSpot, is also important.
Compensation and benefits
The salary range for this role is NZ$65,000 to NZ$85,000, plus a 10% bonus linked to KPIs. The package also includes carry in Icehouse Ventures funds, subject to vesting and carry terms, and ESOP participation in Icehouse Ventures, subject to vesting and the ESOP agreement. The base salary is exclusive of KiwiSaver.
How to apply
Applicants are asked to submit a CV along with a piece of social media content that showcases who they are. The submission should also explain why they were drawn to Icehouse Ventures’ mission and values, and how they would help amplify the company’s story. Any social format is acceptable, including a static carousel, short-form video, LinkedIn article, or another format that demonstrates how they think, execute, and communicate.
