Role overview

The business is looking for a motivated Junior Web Developer to support growing demand for bespoke website design and build projects. The role is centred on custom WordPress development and related technical work, with a focus on delivering a high standard of web development.

What you'll do

• Build custom WordPress themes and add tailored functionality from creative wireframes and design visuals.
• Assist with customer support activities, including preparing user training materials and providing direct support by phone and in person.
• Offer technical input and practical assistance to the graphic design and digital marketing teams.
• Work closely with the wider team in a collaborative office environment.

Required experience and technical knowledge

• Experience with WordPress CMS, PHP, HTML5, CSS and basic JavaScript.
• Familiarity with basic server administration tasks such as phpMyAdmin and FTP.
• Working understanding of databases, especially MySQL.

Nice-to-have skills and attributes

• Strong written and spoken English.
• Good organisational ability.
• Exposure to PHP/Laravel.
• Experience with SCSS, Bootstrap 4, Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
• Basic command line experience.
• Basic Node.js tooling such as Gulp, Yarn or Grunt.
• Awareness of SEO.
• Driving licence preferred but not essential.
• A related third-level qualification is an advantage.
• Self-driven approach with an ability to research and solve problems independently.
• Friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to grow into the role.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming.
• Graphic design experience is beneficial.
