Your Role at SECURE
The Plasma Labourer role is focused on carrying out daily site tasks safely and efficiently while keeping the work area clean and organized. You will also be expected to follow all safety requirements and work as part of the site team.
This position is based in Edmonton, Alberta.
The Team
You will join the SECURE Metals & Mining team, a group of experienced professionals delivering dependable scrap metal recycling services. The team operates from strategically placed facilities across Western Canada and provides services that range from recycling and cleanup to demolition and surplus scrap metal marketing, with safety and customer satisfaction as key priorities.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site role with working hours from Monday to Friday, 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
Responsibilities
- Follow SECURE safety rules and site procedures at all times.
- Comply with location-specific safety requirements for the worksite.
- Take part in safety meetings and discussions such as daily tailgates and last-minute risk assessments.
- Support torch and plasma-related work as required.
- Operate or assist with small equipment, including skid steers and water filtration pumps.
- Use power tools and small hand tools correctly and safely.
- Perform pre-operation inspections on equipment before use.
- Clean, lubricate, and refuel equipment, and help maintain general site housekeeping.
- Complete physical labour tasks such as lifting, shoveling, and moving containers or other heavy materials.
- Prepare accurate safety documentation in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Experience working with metals is preferred.
- Previous welding experience would be an advantage.
- Exposure to liquid oxygen, propane, or metallurgy would be considered beneficial.
- Hands-on experience with torch or plasma work is an asset.
- Oil and gas industry experience would be helpful.
- Ability to understand and follow workplace health and safety requirements, including SECURE’s Stop & Think Process and Hazard Assessment Process.
- Capability to complete safety paperwork accurately and on time.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle demanding manual tasks and heavy materials.
- Willingness to work in difficult weather, challenging site conditions, and long workdays.
- Ability to adapt to weather-related or seasonal changes in scheduling.
- Certifications such as WHMIS, H2S, CSTS, and First Aid would be an asset.
