Role overview

This position is for an Electrical Maintenance Technician on a fixed evening schedule in Kilbrew, Ashbourne, County Meath. The role sits within the Operations department and reports to the Maintenance Manager. It is a full-time, permanent role on a non-rotating evening shift.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and Friday from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The successful candidate will deliver dependable maintenance support across the factory, helping keep production running smoothly. A qualified electrician with mechanical experience is preferred. The role involves handling daily work orders with the maintenance team, supporting production lines during breakdowns, contributing to improvement initiatives, and maintaining strong safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver practical technical support to production across machine and equipment maintenance, installation, modification, calibration, planned maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Assist with maintenance planning and scheduling by completing both planned and reactive work orders.
• Enter information accurately and promptly into the preventative maintenance system so management reports can be produced.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through repair work, equipment upgrades, preventive maintenance, system failure investigations, reports, and change control activities where needed.
• Attend breakdowns, diagnose faults in a structured way, identify root causes and implement fixes that reduce repeat failures.
• Maintain GMP standards at all times.
• Carry out root cause analysis and diagnostic work.
• Work in a way that reflects a strong commitment to health and safety.

Skills and attributes

• Strong ownership and leadership mindset.
• Clear communication skills with the ability to work effectively with managers across different levels.
• Good ability to organise, prioritise and coordinate work to achieve strong results.
• Solid understanding of food manufacturing processes and production.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Comfort using computers, including Word, Excel, Outlook and reporting systems.
• Exposure to Pemac CMMS would be an advantage.
• Ability to work well within a team while also being self-directed.

Requirements

• Recognised trade qualification as an electrician, with strong maintenance knowledge.
• Mechanical experience is an advantage.
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in maintenance within an FMCG manufacturing setting.
• Proven ability in electrical fault finding.
• Experience with pumping systems, heavy process equipment and high-speed packaging machinery.
• Hands-on practical experience is essential, as this is a very active role.
• Availability for a fixed evening shift with no rotation.
