Mayo Clinic is seeking a Data Science Analyst to join its Research department in Phoenix, Arizona. This position focuses on turning large, varied datasets into practical insights that can improve patient outcomes and support advanced clinical and business decision-making. Compensation and Benefits
The annual pay range for this exempt role is $99,070.40 to $148,616.00. Final offers may also reflect education, experience, tenure, and internal equity.

What You Will Do
The role involves analyzing large and diverse datasets to uncover patterns and insights that can influence patient health and improve human capabilities. You may also collaborate with knowledge architects, informaticians, clinicians, and external partners to design and deliver AI and analytics solutions that are usable by non-technical users, including at the point of care.
You will also adapt existing scripts or software to support data handling, extraction, analysis, and AI-related work. In addition, you may create predictive models to address business challenges using statistical methods, operations research, machine learning, or data mining. Depending on project needs, you may also provide consultative support to departments, divisions, or scientific initiatives under the direction of a senior data scientist.
Additional Responsibilities
- Deliver data-driven insights for business problems that can be solved through analytics, including work with both structured and unstructured data.
- Apply established data science methods with an understanding of data types, scientific challenges, and analytical approaches.
- Carry out analytical tasks as part of defined project requests.
- Build or adjust scripts and software tools for data management, extraction, and analysis.
- Support interpretation of results and contribute to report writing.
- Help stakeholders understand the dataset and offer guidance or training to improve the data request.
- Work closely with subject matter experts using strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Present analytical findings in clear, accessible language for business or clinical audiences.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in a relevant quantitative or analytical discipline such as engineering, mathematics, computer science, health science, or a similar field, along with at least 3 years of professional or research experience in data science, will be considered.
The preferred background is a master’s degree or PhD in a related field and at least 1 year of professional or research experience in data science. The ideal candidate should be able to build predictive models for business problems using advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, or data mining. Experience with consultative work for departments, divisions, or committees is also valued.
Applicants should demonstrate the use of multiple problem-solving approaches, planning methods, continuous improvement techniques, and analytical tools such as machine learning, statistical software, and modeling methods. The ability to manage multiple priorities, stay current with healthcare trends and enterprise changes, and balance a varied project load is important. Strong interpersonal and time management skills, sound analytical judgment, advanced computer application skills, customer-service orientation, and experience with data modeling and data exploration tools are also required.

Schedule and Work Arrangement
This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role does not include weekend work. The position is based onsite in Phoenix, AZ, and remote work is not indicated for this role.
Employment Details
This is an exempt role. Benefits are eligible, and the expected hours per pay period are 80. No international assignment is associated with the position.
