About the Role

The Hyderabad infrastructure team is responsible for building and maintaining Notion’s internal asynchronous task runner and configuration management platform. These systems are central to delivering a fast, dependable, and secure experience for a very large user base. The configuration platform also helps product and infrastructure engineers manage settings safely and explicitly.

This role offers the chance to influence how these core systems are built, improved, and scaled, while supporting innovation across the wider organization.

What You Will Do

• Help develop and improve the async task runner so it can continue supporting a rapidly growing product and more than 100 million users worldwide.
• Work with guidance from senior engineers to keep systems dependable, efficient, and able to scale as demand increases.
• Assess and adopt new technologies that help the platform stay resilient and ready for future challenges.
• Contribute to the team’s ability to debug production issues with minimal disruption, including component replacements and failover handling.
• Take part in an on-call rotation and respond to incidents to restore service health quickly and maintain reliability.
• Collaborate with product engineers and other infrastructure teams so that the platform continues to support business and product goals.

What We’re Looking For

• At least 2 years of software development experience, with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-moving environment.
• A strong systems mindset, with the ability to reason about distributed systems and the trade-offs between consistency, latency, and scalability.
• A practical approach to problem-solving, with a focus on business impact, maintainability, and balancing speed with quality.
• Strong ownership and initiative, including comfort working through ambiguity and taking action in unstructured situations.
• Good collaboration skills and empathy for internal users, with the ability to help other engineers build reliable systems.
• Curiosity and openness toward using AI tools to work more effectively, even without needing to be an AI specialist.
