Role overview
The Kitchen Porter at Soho House is central to keeping the kitchen running efficiently. The position focuses on cleaning and caring for kitchen equipment and service items such as pots, pans, cutlery, crockery, and glassware.
The role also supports high standards of hygiene and safety, takes responsibility for waste removal, and helps keep the kitchen and back-of-house spaces clean, orderly, and ready for service.
Key duties
- Wash, rinse, and sanitise all kitchen items, including cookware, utensils, crockery, and glassware, according to daily operational requirements.
- Use commercial dishwashing and cleaning equipment safely and in line with manufacturer instructions and site procedures.
- Keep kitchen work areas and storage spaces clean, neat, and organised at all times.
- Remove kitchen waste correctly, empty bins as needed, and maintain tidy waste areas throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety and health and safety requirements, including UK regulations and HACCP principles.
- Work to cleaning schedules and standard operating procedures without deviation.
- Assist the wider kitchen team by topping up stock, flagging shortages, and helping out during busy service periods.
- Care for kitchen tools and equipment carefully to reduce breakages and protect stock levels.
- Restock items such as toiletries, towels, and cleaning supplies when needed.
- Store and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.

Pay information
The UK pay rate for this role is £14.50 per hour. Rates may differ in other locations depending on local market conditions.
