About the Role

Work-Mantra is hiring a dependable and hands-on Steward to help keep the kitchen and dining spaces clean, sanitary, and running efficiently. This role supports the culinary team with dishwashing, basic food prep, cleaning, and general upkeep so daily operations stay smooth.

Key Responsibilities

• Run dishwashing equipment and ensure plates, utensils, cookware, and other kitchen items are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff with simple preparation work such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness across counters, floors, equipment, and food prep areas to reduce hygiene risks.
• Handle kitchen waste and recyclable materials correctly, and assist with disposal whenever needed.
• Keep track of cleaning consumables and disposable stock, and flag any shortages or mismatches to the supervisor.
• Follow all safety and hygiene procedures, including safe use of cleaning chemicals and prompt reporting of hazards or faulty equipment.
• Work closely with kitchen staff and service teams to support efficient day-to-day operations.
• Carry out minor maintenance tasks such as replacing bulbs and helping with basic equipment fixes to keep the facility functioning well.

Requirements

• Prior experience as a steward, dishwasher, or kitchen helper is an advantage, though it is not mandatory.
• Some familiarity with kitchen workflows and sanitation practices is preferred.
• Ability to stay productive in a busy environment and manage several tasks at once.
• Good physical fitness, including the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Careful attention to detail with a proactive approach to cleanliness and order.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
