Role Overview
This microbiology role is focused on supporting product, process, and environmental quality through routine testing, culture work, sterilization support, documentation, and compliance-related activities in a laboratory and production setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare culture media and sterilize laboratory tools and equipment to maintain contamination-free testing conditions.
- Carry out microbial culturing, staining, and organism identification using microscopes and standard lab methods.
- Run routine quality control checks to detect contamination or unwanted microbial growth.
- Record experimental details and test outcomes accurately in lab notebooks or digital systems.
- Receive and log incoming samples for analysis.
- Perform antimicrobial efficacy tests as per the defined schedule.
- Support senior microbiologists in research and development work.
- Operate and maintain basic laboratory instruments such as autoclaves, incubators, water baths, and microscopes.
- Track environmental conditions in manufacturing or cleanroom areas to support safety and compliance.
- Follow biosafety practices and ensure proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
- Keep skills updated by learning new microbiology techniques and relevant industry requirements.
- Perform all microbiological tests needed for product and process quality.
- Prepare biological indicators and chemical indicators.
- Conduct bioburden analysis for products and the environment as per schedule.
- Carry out product sample analysis.
- Support finger tab testing, swab testing, and daily equipment calibration.
- Maintain online documentation and records.
- Handle cultures, prepare culture suspensions, and perform GPT.
- Prepare trends and trend reports.
- Conduct sterility analysis, observe results, and prepare reports.
- Support preparation of sterilization certification documentation.
- Assist with SOP revisions.
- Provide validation support for TMV, ETO, and gamma sterilization processes.
