Role overview
University Centre West Anglia is hiring additional exam invigilators to help oversee assessments across its campuses in King’s Lynn and Wisbech. This is a casual, zero-hours opportunity that is suited to someone who wants flexible work to supplement their current income while helping students perform at their best.
Working pattern and location
The role is based onsite in King’s Lynn and Wisbech, with opportunities also available at the Lynnsport campus for larger student groups. Work is offered on a casual basis, with peak demand typically falling in May and June, although examinations run across the year.
Pay
The stated pay is £15.29 to £15.54 per hour. A second pay reference is also included in the source: £12.76 to £12.97 per hour, plus holiday pay of £2.53 to £2.57 per hour, with an annualised equivalent of £24,549 to £24,949 FTE.
What the role involves
As an invigilator, you will help maintain a calm, secure and well-run exam environment. You will support learners by supervising them during exams, offering reassurance where appropriate, and working alongside the wider team to uphold the required standards. Duties may include reading, scribing and general supervision, depending on the exam arrangement.
Training and support
No previous experience in education is required. Full training, guidance and ongoing support are provided so that new invigilators can succeed in the role.
Who the role supports
The college works with learners aged 16 through to adults across a broad range of subjects, from A Levels and degree-level study to animal care, science and more.
Team and environment
The Exams team is described as well-established, supportive and growing. The college is community-focused and offers a close-knit working environment, along with a strong training package.
Additional information
Job share arrangements may be considered for suitable candidates. Applicants must submit their own original wording, as applications may be checked for AI-generated content. Interviews will be held face to face only; online interviews are not available.
Safeguarding and checks
This position requires satisfactory references, an enhanced DBS check, a barred list check and an online search for shortlisted candidates. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, although the Exceptions Order may apply. The college also operates a Disability Confident guaranteed interview scheme for disabled candidates who meet the essential criteria.
Benefits
Benefits include 30 days of annual leave for support staff, plus five college closure days and bank holidays, all pro-rated for part-time and paid as an enhancement for casual staff. Other benefits include fee waivers on some college courses, access to the Local Government Pension Scheme, discounts with local businesses, cycle-to-work access, wellbeing support, and a free confidential Employee Assistance Programme. Training and development opportunities are also available.
Application and closing details
The closing time for applications is 12 noon on Friday 16 July 2026. Interviews are provisionally planned for the week commencing 3 August 2026 at the King’s Lynn campus. The college may close the vacancy early if enough suitable applications are received. No agencies should apply.
