Role overview
The Duty Engineer is responsible for handling day-to-day maintenance and repair needs at the property in Marina Bay, Singapore. This role focuses on responding quickly to guest repair requests, keeping equipment in working order, and supporting the upkeep of a safe, efficient, and professional hotel environment.
Key duties
- Respond to and attend guest repair requests in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance concerns.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
- Inspect tools, machines, and equipment visually to spot issues early.
- Move and carry necessary equipment such as tools and radios.
- Locate, identify, and operate shut-off valves for equipment when required.
- Track maintenance stock and request parts and supplies as needed.
- Document unfinished service calls before shift handover.
Safety and workplace standards
- Follow all company, safety, and security procedures at all times.
- Report maintenance faults, hazards, accidents, and injuries promptly.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Store flammable materials correctly and securely.
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and uniform.
- Protect confidential and proprietary company information.
- Safeguard company assets and uphold quality expectations.
Guest service and teamwork
- Greet and acknowledge all guests in line with company standards.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide appropriate support, including assistance to people with disabilities.
- Thank guests with genuine care and professionalism.
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Support the team in achieving shared goals.
- Listen carefully and respond appropriately to coworker concerns.
- Use clear, professional communication at all times.
Physical requirements
- Be able to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance.
- Work on stairs, service ramps, and ladders as needed.
- Reach above and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications
A Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree is preferred. The role requires at least 2 years of related work experience. No supervisory experience is required, and no license or certification is specified.
