Role summary
This is a permanent, full-time Driver position within Circle Decontamination in Aylesford. The role is for 37.5 hours per week and pays up to £25,515.37 annually, with the exact salary depending on experience, training and qualifications.
Circle Health Group Decontamination provides sterile equipment and instrumentation for surgical and interventional procedures across hospitals in England and Glasgow. The service runs 24/7, with rotating day and night coverage as needed.
The successful candidate will join the decontamination team to support the movement of contaminated and cleaned trolleys and related equipment between hospitals, clinics and the decontamination facility.
Working pattern
This post requires a flexible shift arrangement. Candidates must be able to support 24/7 coverage for new routes, and collections take place twice each day.
Key duties
- Pick up contaminated trolleys from hospitals and clinics and transport them to the decontamination site.
- Deliver reprocessed scopes and instruments back to clinical departments in a clean, safe, timely and professional way.
- Drive company vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes, including vehicles fitted with tail lifts, while following all road safety rules and regulations.
- Keep to scheduled routes and time-critical delivery plans while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Candidate profile
Applicants should have a full, clean UK Category B driving licence that permits driving vehicles up to and including 3.5 tonnes. Experience driving vans with tail lifts is expected, ideally gained in a commercial or healthcare environment.
The role calls for someone who is confident driving in cities and rural areas, able to work in all weather conditions and comfortable under time pressure. Manual handling and lifting must be carried out safely, with the right training.
Candidates should also have a solid general education, along with the ability to complete delivery records and follow route instructions accurately. A willingness to work flexibly, including early starts, late finishes, weekends and public holidays when needed, is important. Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, hygiene and safety standards is essential.
