કામનું વર્ણન
Role overview
This position leads regional service operations and technical support for mtu power generation systems across APAC, with a strong emphasis on hyperscale and mission-critical data centre applications. The role is centered on service governance, technical leadership at the second support level, commissioning quality, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support for diesel and gas generator sets, along with related control, automation, electronics, and software systems such as EnergetIQ and FOXBAT.
The scope is not limited to handling support requests. The objective is to strengthen service reliability, reduce downtime exposure in data centres, and ensure consistent operational performance throughout the region.
Work location and eligibility
The position is based in Tukang, Singapore, in the West region. Only candidates who already have the legal right to work in Singapore will be considered. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be shortlisted.
Relocation support is not provided for this role.
Key responsibilities
The role covers regional technical support, commissioning oversight, service quality improvements, aftermarket support, and key account coordination across APAC.
Regional technical leadership
- Deliver second-level technical assistance for mtu engines, generator sets, and control systems across APAC, with priority support for data centre and other critical infrastructure projects.
- Serve as the escalation contact between APAC distributors and global Level 3, R&D, and factory engineering teams.
- Handle complex fault-finding across mechanical, electronic, automation, and software-related issues.
- Study operating information to identify failures, determine underlying causes, and define corrective actions.
- Assess whether defects should be handled under warranty or commercially, backed by sound technical reasoning.
Commissioning and project support
- Take part in engineering reviews, validation work, operability studies, and commissioning planning for projects.
- Examine commissioning procedures and technical documentation to identify missing elements and risks at an early stage.
- Provide technical supervision during commissioning of data centre power systems, ensuring alignment with specifications and availability expectations.
- Support project teams in resolving product and operational issues through to formal closure.
Service operations and quality management
- Lead initiatives that improve service quality across the APAC region.
- Drive investigations, corrective actions, and ongoing improvement programmes.
- Work with distributors and service teams to standardize processes and strengthen regional capability.
- Support Correction-in-Field activities and related technical validation work.
Aftermarket and service sales support
- Collaborate with service sales teams on repair approaches, service proposals, and lifecycle solution development.
- Review and confirm the technical content of quotations for service and project-related work.
- Help standardize commissioning and service practices across APAC.
Key account and stakeholder management
- Support hyperscale data centre customers and strategic accounts throughout APAC.
- Provide both remote and on-site support for urgent and high-impact technical issues.
- Coordinate with internal groups including Project, Sales, Engineering, Parts, and CiF teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Act as a dependable technical adviser for customers and internal stakeholders.
Experience and technical background
The company is looking for an engineer with substantial experience in service operations, technical support, or commissioning within power generation, diesel or gas engines, and critical infrastructure settings. Direct experience in data centre, mission-critical, or hyperscale environments is mandatory, and prior responsibility for APAC service operations is expected.
Applicants should have deep familiarity with diesel and gas generator systems, preferably mtu equipment, including Series 4000, 2000, and 1600 engine platforms. Experience with control systems, automation, and software platforms such as FOXBAT and EnergetIQ is important. The role also requires the ability to diagnose problems across mechanical, electrical, automation, and software layers, as well as experience with commissioning, root cause analysis, and failure investigation.
Leadership and working style
This role requires someone who can operate both as a hands-on technical expert and as a strategic service operations leader. Strong judgment is needed in high-pressure environments where uptime is critical. A practical understanding of warranty handling, commercial claims, and service cost structures is important, as is the ability to influence distributors and stakeholders without direct reporting authority.
The successful candidate should be an effective communicator who can simplify complex technical issues into clear next steps. The role also calls for a structured, detail-focused, accountable person who is comfortable working in fast-moving and sometimes ambiguous project environments.
Additional requirements
- Willingness to travel across APAC to support projects and urgent technical matters.
- Experience working with distributors and external service partners is strongly preferred.
- Exposure to data centre commissioning standards and uptime expectations, including Tier III and Tier IV environments, is a strong advantage.
