Role Summary

This is a full-time remote opportunity for a Construction Estimator who will prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity take-offs for projects of different sizes and levels of complexity. The person in this role will review drawings, specifications, and other project documents, carry out digital take-offs, and build labour, material, and subcontractor pricing breakdowns. The position also includes sourcing and comparing vendor and subcontractor quotations, revising estimates as design details change, and maintaining cost data for future reference.

The Construction Estimator will work with project managers and clients to confirm scope, find opportunities to reduce costs, and update budgets when project needs shift. In addition, the role involves creating clear estimate summaries, joining review discussions, and helping with proposals and bids by providing accurate, well-supported cost information.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed construction estimates and quantity take-offs for a variety of projects.
• Examine plans, technical specifications, and project documents before pricing work.
• Use digital take-off and estimating tools to measure and quantify project scope.
• Develop structured cost breakdowns covering labour, materials, and subcontractor work.
• Request, review, and compare quotations from vendors and subcontractors.
• Revise estimates whenever drawings, specifications, or scope details are updated.
• Maintain cost databases and reference data for future estimating needs.
• Coordinate with project managers and clients to clarify scope and discuss pricing.
• Identify possible cost-saving opportunities and support budget adjustments.

• Participate in estimate reviews and respond to questions about scope and pricing.

Requirements

• Proven ability in construction estimating and quantity take-offs, ideally using digital estimating software.
• Solid understanding of cost control and budgeting, with a history of delivering accurate cost analyses.
• Good communication skills to explain estimates clearly and work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, building techniques, and materials used in residential or commercial projects.
• Comfort using spreadsheets and estimating platforms such as Excel and cloud-based tools in a remote working setup.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational ability, with close attention to detail and the capacity to juggle several deadlines.
• Prior experience in construction estimating, quantity surveying, or a related discipline is preferred.
• A degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or a similar field is preferred.
