Base Maintenance Controller

Role overview

The selected person will become part of the base maintenance team within SIA Engineering Division and will assist in running base maintenance activities. Reporting to the VP of Base Maintenance, this role focuses on ensuring that maintenance checks and repair actions are completed on time in a hangar setting for Singapore Airlines and its subsidiary airlines. The work covers both local Singapore operations and checks carried out at overseas locations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with maintenance, repair and overhaul providers to manage the preparation and day-to-day progress of maintenance checks.
• Participate in daily engineering operations meetings and update stakeholders on the status of each aircraft under maintenance.
• Partner with the MRO team and the costing function to establish fair and progressive charging for work completed during hangar checks.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce maintenance cost and improve hangar workflow efficiency.
• Carry out routine audits of MRO activities to confirm maintenance work has been finished correctly and records are accurate.
• Prepare and share daily progress reports for maintenance checks taking place in the base maintenance hangars.

Requirements

• Must be a licensed aircraft engineer.
• Prior experience in base maintenance is required, with preference given to candidates with around 10 years of relevant experience.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work closely with multiple user departments.
• Well-developed planning and organisational ability, along with the confidence to work independently.
• Good analytical thinking and problem-solving capability.
• Comfortable using IT tools and systems.
