Armed Guard

Role overview

An Armed Guard is assigned to protect people, property, and assets by staying alert, monitoring access points, observing surroundings, and discouraging unlawful activity through a visible security presence and the lawful use of approved weapons. The position demands constant compliance with company policies, procedures, and operational instructions.

G4S may place the guard at different locations such as offices, industrial or commercial sites, and residential communities. The guard is expected to carry and manage a licensed firearm and keep it in safe, working condition.

Key responsibilities

• Safeguard assigned premises, people, and valuables.
• Watch entry and exit points and confirm visitor identity.
• Stop unauthorized access and escalate suspicious behaviour.
• Use licensed firearms responsibly and only within legal limits.
• Keep weapons secure, maintained, and fit for use.
• Respond quickly to theft, violence, or security breaches.
• Work with police or the controlling authority when needed.
• Wear the correct uniform, carry identification, and maintain discipline.
• Follow G4S standard operating procedures at all times.

Eligibility criteria

• Applicant must be an Indian citizen.
• Age should be between 18 and 65 years.
• Minimum height required is 5 feet 7 inches.
• Minimum qualification is 10th standard.
• Candidate should be physically fit and mentally sound.
• No criminal background; police antecedent verification is compulsory.
• Must not be dependent on alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants.
• Must have completed prescribed live-firing training, including firearm handling and maintenance.
• Must legally own the firearm and ammunition covered under a valid arms licence issued by the licensing authority.
• Must hold a valid licence for a non-prohibited weapon as permitted by law.
• The weapon licence must be valid in the state where deployment is proposed.
• G4S hires gunmen with 12-bore single or double-barrel guns, .22 pistols, or revolvers.
• Ex-servicemen with a valid licence and weapon are preferred.

Onboarding documents

• Aadhaar card.
• Educational certificates.
• Police or gram panchayat verification.
• Medical, physical, and mental fitness certification from a registered medical practitioner.
• Weapon listed on the licence, without ammunition.
• Original weapon licence.
• The licence validity date must be at least 6 months from the date of issue.
